While a lot of focus is placed on the role of rotating bearings, linear systems prove just as crucial in the operation of industrial equipment. These parts must support the weight and movement of heavy loads, while also maintaining resistance to environmental stressors such as heat. On a recent application in a concrete plant, Michael Burgess, Key Account Manager at CBC Beresfield, supplied the Schaeffler INA Linear Recirculating Ball Bearings with outstanding results.
“These bearings are crucial to most of the automated processes on site, in dynamic systems that make a large volume of cement bricks,” explains Michael. “The machinery in the plant mixes up the wet concrete, bakes it and then shapes large construction panels of different sizes. There are a lot of factors to consider in an environment like that around safety, temperature, and corrosion.”
