Australia is the world’s leading producer of raw cotton with around 1500 cotton farms located in over 150 regional communities. The majority of cotton farms are owned and operated by families. Nearly 90% of Australia’s cotton is exported to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. In 2022, Australian cotton farmers produced six million bales, worth nearly $2 billion in domestic dollars.
Australian cotton farming is known for being environmentally and socially reliable, with natural resources used conservatively, and low-impact operations relying on ideal climate conditions.
