Industrial fan bearings are critical components in various industries, especially in the food and beverage sector, where maintaining optimal air quality and ventilation is essential for product safety and quality. When a large shopping centre in Noarlunga, South Australia, experienced a problem with their fan bearings, they turned to Todd Gates, a bearings specialist and member of the Motion engineering team, for a solution.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Todd and the team had to find a fast and effective resolution. “The job was to supply fresh air to the shopping centre through the use of HVAC, which was crucial, especially over the warmer months, to avoid any lengthy downtime,” explained Todd. The issue with the fan bearings stemmed from a worn shaft located in a hard-to-reach area, making maintenance challenging. Complicating matters further was the bustling food court with a variety of restaurants and supermarkets stocked with fresh produce, requiring a swift resolution.
